Job Description
Title: Public Relations & Events Specialist (Pay Range is $35,000 – $45,000) Objective: PR Professional who has local and some national media experience, very organized, great customer service skills, and can work independently with minimal supervision. Primary Duties: Manages national Dentistry from the Heart (DFTH) event registration, marketing and public relations Assists in preparation of DFTH public outreach (marketing) plan, long and short-term strategy and budget, including budget tracking. Secures favorable media placement by writing releases and pitching news stories. Develops and maintains relationships with media, manages inquiries and responses to media, including speaking points and attending interviews. Evaluates research regarding new market trends and market reaction to national events in order to recommend strategy adjustments. Contracts and serves as liaison with outside vendors, consultants, copywriters, and advertising agencies.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Communications, Journalism, Mass Communications or Marketing 2-4 years public relations and marketing experience, nonprofit experience preferred Local and national print, TV, radio and online media relations experience Local and national event coordinating experience Customer service experience including prompt response to customer needs concerning requests for service and assistance Strong time management skills Experience in social media and Web 2.0 Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe CS experience preferred Experience in website content management systems preferred Request two writing samples (press release and other) Request two references (one needs to be from a media professional they have a working relationship with)
