Put Your Skills to the Test! Volunteer with IABC Tampa Bay Members of IABC/Tampa Bay have the opportunity to expand and enhance their communications skills and practices by volunteering for the association and taking on leadership responsibilities. Volunteers are the backbone of IABC Tampa Bay. The services provided to chapter members are planned and organized by a dedicated and enthusiastic

By becoming involved in IABC/Tampa Bay, members find increased opportunities to meet and network with people in the communications sector, increase skills in a variety of areas, gain experience in areas outside of your everyday activities, and have fun while doing so. Volunteer Postings Below is a summary of volunteer opportunities and the IABC/Tampa Bay Board member to contact for more information. Membership • Recruit new members • Create and conduct online member survey and report findings to members in newsletter. • Develop recruitment materials • Develop relationships with targeted companies • Following up with non-members that attend IABC/Tampa Bay events Contact: Sue Brockett Professional Development • Seminars, Networking Events and Panel Discussions • Event planning, finding speakers Contact: Eileen Randle Accreditation Accredited members needed to: • Mentor accreditation candidates through portfolio development phase • Attend local accreditation information session to speak to interested candidates about the value of accreditation Contact: Special Events Bronze Quill Awards Event (usually held in early July) Committee members needed to: • Determine theme and date • Secure event venue • Assist with food/beverage selections • Secure speaker or emcee • Secure designer to develop ‘Save the Date’ postcard, call for entries, invitations, event program • Assist with printing/mailing of marketing materials • Coordinate Call for entries • Secure out-of-state judges (other IABC chapters) • Assist with organizing and shipping award entries to other IABC chapters for judging Contact: Eileen Randle Membership Communication • Contributing content for e-mail newsletter, hard copy newsletter and Web site • Develop new ways to deliver information to members (e.g. discussion boards, email alerts) • Help secure content for communication vehicles • Pitch stories to media outlets Contact: Cathy Clark Sponsorships Contact companies and members regarding sponsorship opportunities IABC/Tampa Bay is offering local companies the chance to reach top communicators for as little as $300 with a monthly luncheon sponsorship
