This position is the lead communication consultant and strategist for the Crystal River 3 Nuclear Plant. This employee must be able to manage multiple tasks and activities while looking toward the future and understanding the "big picture." This includes working with corporate, plant and regional management and personnel. This position is responsible for planning, executing and measuring all site internal communications, using a multitude of tactics and communication tools, while reinforcing corporate messaging and communications and translating them so they are relevant for site personnel. As the site’s lead communication consultant, employee will also support external communications and serve as the site’s primary media spokesperson. Employee should be engaged with issues associated with the nuclear power industry, the electric utility industry and Progress Energy's businesses. Communication leadership and support during refueling outages is considered highly valuable and requires significant commitment of planning, resources and time. Some early morning and late evening work may be required, as is week-long, rotational on-call periods. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES - Develop and manage plant’s internal communication plans. Support NGG fleet alignment and other initiatives that successfully inform and support employees, link the business strategy and change initiatives and improve internal understanding of Progress Energy programs and activities. Utilize varied communication tools selecting the best option or combination for the intended audience. - Develop and manage plant’s external communications plan and serve as CR3’s site media spokesperson. As appropriate, cultivate effective relationships with local and/or nuclear trade media and take the lead in managing and mitigating potentially negative issues. Coordinate media communications with Director for Corporate Media Relations. Provide issues management communications support for both the plant and the company. On a rotational basis, field the Florida media line for after-hours inquiries. - Coordinate with the Emergency Planning and Crisis lead to develop and execute the CR3 crisis communications plan, including weather, nuclear, plant issues and other crises. If a crisis develops at CR3, this person will serve as the lead spokesperson and communications coordinator. Manage the Emergency News Center (ENC) program and provide qualifying training for new staff and quarterly training for all ENC staff. - As needed, work with and/or provide support to Community Relations personnel in the Crystal River region (North Coastal). Initiatives may include site tours, community meetings and NRC public meetings. - Organize and conduct plant tours for civic, industry and community groups in coordination with plant management. |
